Abbotsford, BC – The Abbotsford Heat were defeated 1-0 by the Chicago Wolves (AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks) on Wednesday morning at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.
Barry Brust suffered his first regulation loss of the 2012-13 campaign, earning second star honours in the Heat’s first game on their six game road trip. Despite the loss, the Heat remain atop the North Division with 36 points in 27 games and tied for first in the Western Conference.
Wolves captain Darren Haydar scored the lone goal of the game at 10:02 of the first period. The goal was Haydar’s fourth of the season. Jordan Schroeder and Nathan Longpre picked up assists on the play.
Barry Brust made his eleventh start of the season, stopping 33 of 34 shots. The Heat were outshot 34-25.
The Heat power play was scoreless on three opportunities, and the penalty kill negated all three Wolves man-advantages.
