FLAMES REASSIGN SVEN BAERTSCHI TO ABBOTSFORD

Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today they have reassigned Sven Baertschi to the Abbotsford Heat and activated Mikael Backlund from injured reserve. Backlund returns to the Flames line-up after recovering from a grade 2 MCL sprain suffered on February 7th against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Baertschi started the 2012-13 season with Abbotsford playing 21 games, recording 18 points from 6 goals and 12 assists. He joined the Flames for the start of the NHL season but suffered a hip flexor injury that forced him to miss 11 games. Baertschi was Calgary’s first round selection, 13th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
