Abbotsford, BC – Abbotsford Heat Director of Marketing Terri Breker is taking part in a fantastic charitable event at the Burnaby 8 rinks over the next week… Or so. ‘The Longest Game 4 CF’ is aiming to break the Guinness world record for longest hockey game ever in an effort to raise $400,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

As for the logistics of the event, 40 women from Vancouver are divided on to two teams (White and Red) that will do battle, starting Friday August 26th, in hopes of breaking the current record of 242 hours – which is just over ten days of continuous hockey.

Breker is on the committee that has organized the event and will be patrolling the crease as a puck stopper for the duration of the game, though she will have a few small breaks from the action.

“We each take shifts of four hours on the ice, and the longest you’re ever off the ice is eight hours.” said Breker of the epic event. “There might be a few sleepless nights, but we’ll do what we can, and we’ll stay energized.”

The game is an opportunity to shed light on Cystic Fibrosis, the disease which recently took two friends of the Vancouver’s Women’s hockey community. Just another reason why Terri was so eager to be involved.

“It marries my passion for hockey and supporting people in need, so it was a no-brainer to get involved.”

Terri is a resident of Langley, grew up in the Tri-Cities, and has played hockey in Burnaby at 8-Rinks throughout her hockey career.
